Install was going to be problematic for us since the clear line of sight was not from our home.
But, we just told DISHNetwork this and the installer came out and set it all up without any problems or additional charges.
Everything we ordered was working and we have had no problems. DISHNetwork has changed a lot of its policies to prevent surprises from the installer and from your first bill. Now when you order DISHNetwork, a 3rd party calls you back to verify what you ordered and EXACTLY how much you monthly bill will be.

And we did not have to sign up for a contract term - all you have to do is ask for no contract and pay $50 for the installation.
We have had no picture issues, and no freezes or any other problems.

I am extremely disappointed in Dish Network. I had DirecTV for 10 years and switched over to Dish Network and from day 1 I’ve had many issues. First they LIED!!! Nothing is ever free! They overcharged us and didn’t care. I am complaining to the BBB and anyone else who will listen. I would love it if we could get together and put a class action suit against this company for having such sneaky ways. If your interested in trying to put this business where it belongs respond to my rating and leave me your info. Looking forward to sticking it to them right back.

Dish Network is wonderful … I’ve had it now for 2+ years after 20+ years of cable. Looking back, I wonder why I waited so long, and I was even a cable employee. If there is ANY complaint whatsoever, and its a small one, it is if there is a torrential downpour of rain, the signal can be interrupted. I’m truly shocked by all the bad reviews listed here and wonder if these are Direct TV or cable employees.

Most the reviewers I’ve read here have trashed Dish Network. Sorry to buck the trend, but I have nothing negative to say of any importance. My only complaints, and they are minor, is that the installation team arrived 15 minutes later than the anticipated time frame, and that I was initially having trouble receiving some of my HD stations. I noticed the latter the day after installation. That was on a Saturday. I called Dish Net. It took about 10 minutes of waiting, but I did get a tech rep who politely worked me through some problem-solving on the phone. After another 10 minutes, he decided that my problem required an on-site visit. I was told that a technician would be at my home the next day (Sunday)between noon and 5pm. That morning about 8am, the technician called and asked more detailed questions about my problems. He arrived within the projected time frame, and repositioned the dish. Since then, reception of all channels has been fine. The DVR which was part of the package is working fine too.

If anyone wishes to start a class action against DISH, count me in! They are the most miserable trash company I have ever done business with. They lie, cheat and steal! They should be investiged by the FCC for poor customer service, poor equipment and over charges and by the FBI for purpurtating an inter state fraud. Oh, by the way, not if but WHEN their equipment goes down, they charge you $30 for a house call to fix THEIR OWN lousey, sub standard equipment. When it’s first installed you will lovbe it, that changes after about 3 or 4 months (or a lightning storm which ever comes first). LET THE BUYER BEWARE! Many of the people that took their time to write in these reviews had good reason to do so. We paid some premium prices too, one extra channel cost us an additional $20 per month over our monthly rate.

Only been a dish customer for about 6 months. This is a new technology to me as well as the people who installed the system. When the tv signal and audio work as they are intended; that is HD and 5.1 dolby, it is a beautiful thing to watch and listen. The key in my opinion is to start with the right epuipment and installation. Unfortunately, my DVD and VCR combo is an older model Sony, therefore I can play dvds or cassettes, but am not able to record. This may be my setup or equipment I’m not sure. That is a minor problem. Start with a good quality HDMI cable and an optical cable for installing to the TV and hi def receiver. I’m impressed with the number and quality of the HD channels available.

Dish Network has a method of pointing the dish which has helped me understand this is not an easy process. If you are regaining your signal after an outage, it helps to keep track of what has worked before.

I’m continuing to learn about this new technology and the learning curve has been very steep for me.
